Farrant Street House was a run down original 1890 stone Victorian villa. The property was renovated in the 1970’s, removing all the original decorative detail and rendering over the stone work to “modernise” the residence. Think Architects was then engaged to research its original features and transform it back to its heritage form and extend the rear into an open plan resort style living space flooded with natural light. It was important to pay homage to the original part of the home in the new addition. This was done through materiality, scale and form akin to elements found throughout the villa.
