About the project
What began as a modest 1990 stone-fronted cottage with a tired 1980s extension was transformed into a sanctuary that honours its past while embracing the needs of a growing family. The brief was clear: maintain the footprint, preserve the slab, yet breathe new life into every space. By lifting ceilings to 3.6 metres and inviting northern light deep into the home, rooms once forgotten now glow with energy. Velux skylights punctuate the design, while a restrained palette of exposed white brick, weatherboard, breeze blocks, soft timbers and sage greens creates a timeless calm. The result is a home that respects its origins yet stands renewed — a seamless balance of heritage, light and contemporary living.
