Gordon Road is an original 1990 stone fronted symmetrical cottage. It had a 1980s built lean to extension that wasn’t serving the owners growing family. Think Architects brief was to maintain the existing footprint, use the existing slab and rebuild a more substantial living space including a main bedroom, ensuite and walk in robe. Some of the existing remaining spaces included a bathroom and study which were transformed with feature velux skylights. As this was a south facing rear, the ceiling was raised to 3.6m to achieve high windows to the north over the kitchen. The materials chosen were simple, clean and cost effective with a beautiful result. Exposed white face brick, white painted weatherboard and white painted breeze blocks were used on the exterior whilst the interior features whites, timbers and soft sage greens.
